Torrential Rain Drowns City

Joe Torstrick lost his footing attempting to cross Rowan Street. Torstrick said the water came up to the steps on his porch but did not enter his home. Heavy morning rains caused flooding throughout Kentuckiana Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009.


Early morning storms left more than 6 inches in one hour in the Louisville area. Much of downtown Louisville including Churchill Downs and the University of Louisville suffered flooding.
