Jonathan Palmer is an experienced Kentucky-based photojournalist with a passion for telling people's stories. He has traveled to Africa to document a UK medical student raising awareness of AIDS, covered the SEC and NCAA basketball tournaments, 9 Kentucky Derby's and has shot weddings and events for more than seven years. Along with shooting still photographs, he is also skilled in shooting, editing and producing short documentary videos using DSLR cameras and the Final Cut Pro Suite.

In 2010 and 2011 Jonathan was named Sports Photographer of the Year by the Kentucky News Photographer Association. In 2009 Jonathan was named KNPA Photographer of the Year Runner-Up and was awarded the Story of the Year award from the Alabama Press Association for a story he and a colleague worked on in the aftermath of a tornado.

Currently he freelances for newspapers such as The Courier-Journal (Louisville), The Lexington Herald-Leader, and The New York Times, and also undertakes contract photography and video projects for businesses and organizations such as legal firms, medical offices, trade associations and universities. He also regularly works in the thoroughbred horse industry for Keeneland Racecourse, Blood-Horse Publications, and others, and lives in the Horse Capital of the World, Lexington, Ky. , with his wife, Danielle. Jonathan was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2005 with a B.A. in Studio Art , with a concentration in photography.
