Jonathan Palmer was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2005 with a Studio Art B.A., with concentration in photography. He has traveled to Africa to document a UK medical student raising awareness of AIDS, covered the SEC and NCAA Tournaments, four Kentucky Derbys and has shot weddings for more than four years. In 2010 and 2011 Jonathan was named Sports Photographer of the Year by the Kentucky News Photographer Association. In 2009 Jonathan was named KNPA Photographer of the Year Runner-Up and was awarded the Story of the Year award from the Alabama Press Association for a story he and a colleague worked on in the aftermath of a Tornado. Currently he freelances for The Courier-Journal (Louisville) and The Lexington Herald-Leader newspapers and lives in Lexington with his wife Danielle.
