The Governor's day started in Frankfort and ended in Ashland.

Governor Steve Beshear views damage from the window of a Black Hawk helicopter.

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear assessed damage throughout Kentucky on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 after both a tornado and flood ravaged parts of central and eastern portions of the state. Myself and a reporter from the Lexington Herald-Leader (Ryan Alessi) recieved a birds eye view with various senators and representatives including speaker of the house Greg Stumbo. It was very interesting to fly around and see how the residents of small towns reacted to seeing the Governor. It seemed like a bit of awestruck meets shock since most of them had experienced either total loss from the F3 tornado that skipped its way through Kirksville late Friday or the worst flood in over 30 years.

national guard air crew? The soldier in one of the photos looks like he's getting about 8 square meals a day.
